I awlays loved that line from the John travolta movie, "Broken Arrow". As an aside, the movie was very under-rated as was Travolta's acting in the film.  Anyway, we all love our smart phones and the various apps that go with them. I haev designed apps and it is not easy. Us Airways just released its first app because it was a comlex process.

But what I do not undertand, is why an app gets released and then it seems that every few days, te app gets updated!! I recently updated an app and the UPDATE was 25MB!!!! C'MON!!!  I have 50-60 apps, maybe more. In the past three days I have downloaded 27 updates!!! Why do they have to keep updating them (other than the obvious reason of programmers designing the apps so that they require constant updates. If you are not conncted to wi-fi, yo may not even be able to download the app updates.

THis is all very frustrating when I know that it does not have to be this way!!!

Hey Paddy,

I think the developers and programmers of apps are trying to get them to the market as quickly as possible and don't do a lot of end user testing.  The testing gets done by you/us the users.  Then we report the problems and henceforth the updates.

Best of GREAT success to you always!

Paddy, we updated our iPad to iOS7 and have seen a lot of updates to apps.  Must the operating system triggering it.

Paddy -- part of the problem is that they are trying to keep the apps backward compatible - so they have to pack all the back stuff into the updates as well, to make sure it still all works.  Theorectically, once the new app is loaded, the old copy should be deleted automatically, so it doesn't take up quite as much space - and any known security issues should be solidly closed.

I purposely did not dowload ios7 because  I knew that it would wreak havoc on my contact list and apps

Paddy, not to mention, some updates cause more headaches than their worth. I love updates, but three a week is pushing it. Thanks for sharing!

GOOD MORNING PADDY ... oh that frustrating - it can be maddening with Apple products.  I have an android phone and love it over the iPHONE - as far as updates - I hardly notice when I have to update and for the most part, apps update when my phone is not being used.  Gotta love that!  Hope it gets better for you!
