ActiveRain Week in Review - Jan. 29 to Feb. 4, 2007

Real Estate Agent with Fathom Realty West Sound WA State 52404

First, I apologize for the delay in getting this out. Even with the really cool template that my esteemed colleague provided, it's taken much more time than I had anticipated. And then, somewhere in the middle, I had to meet with clients and actually SELL something. So go figure!

Let me just say that ever since the demise of the hotly debated Dashboard, I've been finding it increasingly more and more difficult to find good quality blogs to read and comment on. However, while doing this 'Week-in-Review,' I've come to realize that there are many unsung heroes in our midst, many that are new to this platform, that are writing their hearts out, and contributing some really great stuff.

Please take some time to familiarize yourself with some new faces, reaquaint with some old ones, and enjoy this week's 'Life in the Rain!"

Great job Rich. I agree about the dashboard. But we are also seeing more new contributors, which is great. Thanks for the terrific review - more to add to the reading and re-reading list. There are a bunch I never saw.

Very good post and thank you for the recognition as well.  I rely a lot on these reviews to find good content as I unfortunately(?) do not have the time I used to to spend on AR.  Thanks to you and all of the editors that make these weekly reviews possible.

Rich, I want to acknowledge you for your generosity in sharing these reviews.

I didn't understand the dashboard in the 'old days' until it was about to leave.  Now, I scope down through NEW posts as well as featured posts.

Content, people.  It is, after some numbers, all about content.  The history of Active Rain has been profound opinion, shared information and networking.  Your blogs on ActiveRain are checked by Google.  Write content that appeals and watch this thing become a valuable tool.

Better get off my soapbox or someone will think I am trying to hijack the thread.

THANK you, RICH!!!

Rich, judging from the repsonses it's not just me having trouble navigating. I go through the dashboard starting with the most recent as often as I can, rating and commenting if I have something to say. I'm really lost now. Hopefully I'll find my way. Thanks!

Thanks, Rich, for an excellent and comprehensive review.  And especially for the mention.  I still haven't figured out how so many on Active Rain write great articles, comment on others, and manage to keep their businesses humming.  I'm honored to be in their company!

And kudos to the creator or the Week in Review template! Like many other commenters, I have trouble finding my way in the Rain, so this is a welcome shelter.

good stuff Rich, thanks for the effort in putting this together.  The template is great!

You're right when you say it's getting harder and harder to find all the good stuff since there is so much stuff out here and a lot of it IS good!

Rich - Thanks for making the time - it has indeed been raining out there - very hard downpour - tough to spend as much time as I would like on AR.  This summary helps immensely!

Thanks Rich!  I really appreciate the mention and thanks for putting this list together.  I don't want to say I'm having trouble finding things, I just don't have as much time.  I feel like I need to limit my AR addiction a little bit.  Posts like these make it much easier for me to find quality blogs.

Mark - thanks for letting me use the template you created. That was a HUGE help! And I'm serious, you're writing has gotten 'scary' good lately!

MF - as long as I have your friendship, I know that I will never get lost in the Rain!  :)

Lisa & Bob - you guys represent the 'core' value of ActiveRain and everything that is good about it!

Linda - I totally agree. I don't know what I would do without my Associates List!

George - I've been one of your biggest fans since joining AR. You write some of the best stuff I seen on this platform. I think many of us have been struggling to find out footing on AR lately. But we're a good bunch for learning how to adapt, right?

Colleen - We all thrive on challenges. We eat 'difficulties' for lunch. We shall overcome!

BB - you're entirely welcome. Thank you for being such a valued contributor to the community!

Ravi - with over 15K members, it's hard to keep up! Thanks for your participation in our "24" group!

Lenn - thank you for providing such needed wisdom and insight on here!

Shari - I can't take any credit. The genius behind the ActiveRain Roundup template is Mark Flanders.

Jason - I do the same thing. I'll bookmark a lot of posts, and go back and read them later. I haven't had time for much commenting lately, unfortunately. I deliberately look for good posts that have little, if any, comments.

Lauren - Mark Flanders made it for me. Jeff Turner explained how to create them in one of his blogs.

John N. - I always like to specifically find new faces. I know how much I enjoyed getting a 'featured' post, or to write something that received lots of comments. People need affirmation that their efforts are being appreciated.

Ardell - I need to update my picture. Maybe I could coax Ben Kakimoto or Randy Prothero to loan me a new one?

Marty - I hope more people discover you and your great articles!

Randy - got any Aloha shirts you can give me?

Ron - one 'clone' event per year is MORE than enough, thank you!

Maggie - Don't be so surprised. Just keep developing your writing skills and you'll do great!

TLW - I've never known you to be few on words???

Diane - Mark Flanders gets the credit for providing such an awesome template. I just filled in the blanks!

Moni - you're entirely welcome. Enjoy the reading!

William - You're right, there are so many great posts being submitted, it's hard to see them all!

Chris - It's hard not to become discouraged. But you have a wonderful voice, and it desperately needs to be heard here.

Jeff - there are a lot of new faces generating great content. And many who need our encouragement and helpful input. I know that you're a HUGE cheerleader. Keep up your efforts!

John - you are providing a really helpful and generous spirit to AR. Thank you!

Robert A. - You've been a 'solid rock' that anchors the AR community. Thanks!

Judy Ann - with comments like that, you can hijack my post any ole' day! We need to collectively RAISE the bar on the quality of content in our posts.

Lysa - navigating new waters is always a little disconcerting. But after a while, you learn you way around. Stay the course, good things will follow!

Kaye - enjoy your reading. There are some really great articles to discover!

Peg - you're most welcome! I anticipate more great things from you!

Joanne - when you find a good post, associate!

Tony - Just do what I do, "Sing!"

Brett - It can be rather addicting. You segment off a consistent time slot each day. Sit down with you cup of coffee, and read/comment.

Mariana - Thank you for being such an active and worthy contributor to AR!

Angela - you have to prioritize and make time, if even just a few minutes each day. Do what you can, when you can. It's worth the investment!
