32nd Annual Honey Harvest Festival - Oregon Ridge Nature Center
October 5 - October 6, 2013 - 11am-4pm
Bee lovers and beekeepers are headed to the Oregon Ridge Nature Center for the 32nd Annual Honey Harvest Festival on October 5 and 6, 2013. There is no entry fee to go to this great event and food and drink will be sold.
The Oregon Ridge Natural Center and the Central Maryland Beekeepers Association will start the festivities on Saturday, October 5 from 11 am to 4pm both Saturday and Sunday October 6. There will be hive demonstrations, candle dipping and mead (honey wine) making. Children will enjoy making their own honey ice cream, puppet shows, animal encounters and face painting.
American craftsmen will display their skills at wool spinning and blacksmithing. Live traditional music will be on stage. Civil War re-enactors will add to the historical scene with demonstrations and exhibits of 1860s military life. The Oregon Ridge Nature Center's rooms of animals and plants will also be on display and the Gift Shop will be selling books and nature items. The Peter Goff Archaeology Museum will be open for tours, illustrating the history of this 19th century iron ore and marble mining complex.
This is a great event with something for everyone and it's FREE!!
