When Should You Hire a Home Stager?

When you have plans of selling your home, you always hope that the process is quick and painless. Having everything in order in regards to your house's appearance will help achieve the quick sale you and your real estate agent are hoping for. Obviously hiring a home stager is the best way to do this. But when should you hire a home stager?

The best time to hire a home stager would be before you put your house on the market. Now of course there are circumstances where you don't have a lot of time before you know you have to sell (i.e. job relocation or personal matters). But as soon as you know you'll be selling, you should be hiring a home stager. Having your home staged before pictures hit the web will show your house to the public at it's best. There won't be any negative feedback during open houses, which can ruin your chances at a sale, or  scrambling to fix certain issues before the next showing. All you'll have to do is maintain the look of your home during it's time on the market.

The saying "You never get a second chance to make a first impression" still stands. In a perfect world, you should hire a home stager before your house hits the market. But that doesn't mean you're out of luck if your house is on the market and you haven’t had the activity you were hoping for. Staging your home will allow for new listing pictures to impress new buyers, and even catch the attention of buyers that saw your house pre-staged.

When should you hire a home stager? Before market or after market, it's never too late to hire a home stager. But there is an optimal time so you can increase your odds of selling more quickly.

The truth is if you want the most bang for the dollar you need to have your home professionally staged. You want the buyer to fall in love with your house before they see another house that calls to them.

There are a couple of stagers that I refer to constantly. I get them involved early on in the process, in most cases before a Realtor is brought in. Just like yourself, they are a good investment for the cost.

A home stager is a great investment.  Any seller should want their home to be seen in it's best light and could be the difference between a long market time with price reduction and a quick sale to someone who falls in love.

Having your home 100% ready for market PRIOR to listing is the ideal.  There are many success stories of homes selling after staging that had been on the market a long time prior to staging, though....it's really never too late.

That's exactly right Suesan.

Before it's on the market really is the best way Joe.

It's an investment in a quick sale John.

I do love those successful staging stories too Sharon!
