Pre-Drywall Inspection you say?
Must read. Just because it's all pretty on the outside doesn't mean it's all pretty on the inside. Subcontractors, and a builders mindset of what they don't know wont hurt me is a definite issue. Great post. A must read and head.
Builder to Buyer: What? You don't need a stinking pre-drywall inspection! We are the builder! Are you serious? You want a Home Inspector to check behind me?? What could he possibly find wrong with our stellar construction techniques? We have the best of sub-contractors lined up to work on your house. They are so good we don't usually even check behind them! Why, we always brace our refrigerator water supply boxes by using a small piece of leftover 2X4... we just screw it to the drywall for bracing.

Good enough right?
Oh, and the washer drain box and water bibs.... well, we usually use a furring strip to support those cause... pssst, can I tell you a secret? When the drywall is installed, it covers up all that stuff and nobody will ever know the difference! I mean, it will cover up all the imperfections and possible future problems that could be caused by not catching it now.
What? After all that explanation you still want a Home Inspector to look it all over? That is so unresaonable!
