How do I Picture???

I've created a step-by-step guide on how the new picture uploader on ActiveRain works, to try and alleviate a lot of the stress that's come around with it. So enjoy, let me know if you have any questions, and may you always dance in the 'Rain!

1. Click "Insert/Edit Image" button.

2. Browse for files.

3. Click "Upload File."

4. Open your computer browser by clicking "Choose File."

5. Select your file, then click "Choose."

6. Click "OK."

7. Select your picture from the File Manager.

8. Add a description, then click Ok.

9. VOILA! Your image is in your blog!

With this new feature, there is some cool new functions. Your photos, when using the New Photo Upload feature, will be saved to your ActiveRain photo library for future access.

Cool, right?!

(Note: You cannot delete pictures once they are in your photo library, because this would break them in your blog!)

The way we align photos now is different, too! Highlight the photo as before (by clicking on it), then click on Format.

Here, you will see Image Left or Image Right. Select the one you'd like for the desired result!

You can also simply click "Formats" directly from the blog editor bar and then select Image Left or Image Right!

Well, what do you think?

Love it? Yay! Me too!

Hate it? We've included the option to continue using the Old Upload function, which you can see in step 4 - just in case the change is too much!

Ask your questions or leave your concerns in the comments, call us at 888-643-3837, or email us at support@activerain.com. Have a beautiful day!

Thanks, Kristi. Wish I'd seen this "how to guide" a few days ago before I had to figure it out for myself. (Fortunately, in the end, all was relatively simple.)

Kristi, HELP!!!

When using the "image left" or "image right" I still can not place the text on the opposite half of the page like a used to.  Now the cursor forces me to the bottom of the page and I have these unsightly open area on the other half of the page where I want text.  I can't even use the old way of going with a full picture and manually downsizing it left or right and then adding text opposite the page.  HELP, what am I doing wrong???

Yikes & youreeka! The format button! It just seems so drawn out with how many steps? The other was EASY.

Emoticons  are not a professional business approach. What dope thought these were ok? Passe & so yesterday.

The improvements in general are very good, they just take some getting used to.

Liz and Bill; You crack me up!

Debbie; the space is still added in the advanced tab! You can put pictures side by side still, but just as before you can't align one right and one left. They'll need to share the same alignment.

Janis; Yay, I'm so glad you like it! I hope this will help people who aren't as familiar with other blogging platforms.

Terri; Yeah you can!

Laura; Thank you! If you mean my profile picture, I just used some effects on ipiccy.com

Maureen; Wow, weird. Will you try posting that blog to your Drafts, then email me at kristi@activerain.com and I'll take a look? Thanks!

Fred; Only you have access, and the ActiveRain staff who have access to your account. You are absolutely not giving up your copyrights, and you will be able to delete images from the library. See our Terms of Service for more information on Submissions.

Barbara; Some stuff was lost in the update that tech is bringing back ASAP. So the title will indeed be back - I'm glad you like the update!

Tammy; He cracked me up too! Let us know if there's anything to do to ease you coming around, and we'll be here, arms open, when you're ready. :)

Tom; You're so welcome, it has been a learning experience for all of us!

Scott; Indeed, I figured the one thing this tutorial could use was... more cowbell!

Sharon; You're so welcome. It will take some getting used to, but I'm glad this has helped!

Richard; Thank you! To be fair, if I wrote the instructions for the old upload as spread out as this one, there would have been 6 steps. The only two extra are clicking the Upload Photo button, and selecting the photo from your library.

Inna; It's exactly the same, with a photo library! Except for now there is a drag-and-drop, too. Glad the timing worked well for you! As for photos in comments, I'm not sure if they're bringing that option back. I'll look into it and get back to you.

Gita; I find it really useful, I'm glad you do too!

Bruce; Me too, I'm glad you like it! What issues are you having with the left and right? Email us or give us a call and we'll see if we can't walk you through it. As for the border, this is a known issue that tech is working to fix, as well as the title on photos!

Ginny; Whoa, that's weird. What browser are you using?

Nina; I'm glad you were able to figure it out, let us know if you need anything else!

Lyn; It's only 2 more steps, total to upload an image, and it's no extra clicks to move the image left or right. I know this is definitely different, though!

Fred; This is one of the features that disappeared when they updated the photo tool, and should be back ASAP!

Gene; Thanks, I'm really excited for them - but they are definitely taking some getting used to!

Jon; We try, Jon - thanks, you're also oh so amazing!

Hi, I have had to save my blog in the Drafts as the picture uploading does not work for me.  The size of the photo does not display so I am not able to adjust it.  I am told that this may be a Windows 7 issue.  My question is:  Why re-invent something that was working just fine?

Frustrated!.  I'll check back later and see if this glitch has been repaired.

I have another online program where I hafta upload twice like this. Once to THEIR Manager, and then from that to the actual project. Do NOT care for it. Will try it, but may end up with the OLD version.

I actually figured it out myself before I found this post. Now I can save your post so that I can review it and find out how to save some time and aggravation. I will probably be able to have an improved product, too.
