Illinois The Land Of Lincoln And So Much More

Living in Chicago Land my whole life has been great. What makes Illinois so fine is that there is so much to offer. A little fact for you is that we are the fifth most populous state in the USA, after California, New York, Texas, and Florida. We have lots of culture in the big city of Chicago.

One of the great things to do in Chicago is the different tours one can take to see a lot and take it in without having to drive yourself. I personally love the Chicago Architectural Cruise. There is too much to mention without writing thousands of words so if you are interested check out the link. If you are curious about seeing a wider spectrum of the city then there are many other tours you could try.

After living in the City of Chicago and the North Shore community of Winnetka I choose Evanston to call home. Why Evanston? It is 20 minutes from downtown Chicago, there are fine beaches and parks as well as many stores and our own downtown which is really growing in recent years. You can walk almost anywhere, the streets are tree lined with a wide range of homes from contemporary to many vintage historic landmarks and Victorian homes from the late 1800s still in wonderful condition. As a Realtor I get calls from all over the country from people wanting to know about Evanston Illinois.

We have Northwestern University, a large Farmers Market, a huge library as well as many summer festivals like the Starlight concerts. This is just one example of what Evanston has to offer. The concerts are held all over the different parks and are free. It is great to hear a wide range of live entertainment to enjoy with friends or family and be in a great park near the lake front.

A few pictures for you, here is the Chicago Skyline I took while boating.

Be careful, all of us will be coming to visit you. I have family in the area (Arlington Heights) but have not visited Chicago in many years. One of my sisters went to the University of Chicago for graduate school.

Roy I would love to meet you and all the great people involved in Active Rain. Come on over. I hope to visit DC one of these days again and see your neck of the woods.

Beth that is so nice of you. It really is nice to show people what our different areas offer and take pride in doing so. If only I could have Chicago with Florida weather.

We been in the city many times, as we used to have family in the area. They are now in three other states, so I haven't gotten back there recently. Great city!

Noah,

I really like that links you provided for all the great Chicago tours. Chicago has a lot to offer and when there are that many things to see and do, there's less boredom. Many great people got their humble beginnings in Chicago and the architecture comes from European countries from all over the world. Many of the buildings have that European style because that's where many immigrants came from before coming to Chicago.

You've done a great job on this post and you have every reason on earth to be proud of your home and the Chicagoland area. I recommend any one thinking about moving to the Chicago north suburbs to contact you.

Hi Noah,  Chicago is one of my favorite places to go. It has anything and everything. From Horse racing, to football, to baseball, Theaters and of course shopping.  My wife's favorite!......and we are only 2 hours away. 105 miles from the loop. (downtown)

Well Noah, You have convinced me it is a great place to live with plenty to see and lots to do. And it isn't such a big city that you get swallowed up.

Noah,  you've done a great job describing my hometown.  Chicago has something to offer everyone, from spectator spots to the arts to the magnificent view of the lake.  I'm lucky to have family and friends scattered throughout the city and suburbs with guestrooms.  I feel like I have one foot in Chicago and the other in Dallas.  Great post!

I have never been up that way but have heard that those winds blow extremely cold over the lake during the winter months. What a great post!

Noah, I would love to visit the Chicago area again. After 25 years, I'm sure so much has changed.  Chicago is a city steeped in history.  I would enjoy taking some of those tours.  I am impressed with how nice the beaches are there too.
