Florida the Sunshine State

By
Real Estate Agent with Christine E O'Shea Real Estate Broker

Florida is known as the "Sunshine State" which is so true for the most part of the year.

Florida is such a large state and starts on the east outside of Georgia, on the west coast of FL outside of Alabama.

We are flanked by two seas, the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico.

If you are lucky enough to visit Key West Florida, you can catch a sunrise and a sunset in the same day...or perhaps, you can wake up on the east coast in Ft. Lauderdale and see a sunrise and then make the one and a half hour to two hour trip over to the west coast of Naples and catch a beautiful sunset!Naples FL Sunset

In the winter all of the visitors come to Florida and make it their winter get away from the snow and the cold of the Northern states, Upper state New York and Canada.

I chose Naples, South West FL as my residence.  The weather is sub tropical and the coldest it has gotten during a cold snap is in the low 40 degree numbers.

In Florida as a full time resident, your property can be "homesteaded" and you get a lower tax rate on your property.  Also, there is no state income tax in Florida.

Of course, do not forget about our wonderful citrus produce and oranges and be sure to come on down, you will be glad you did!

Love Naples and the West Coast of Florida!  I am in Miami, a great happening city, but love the quiet and beautiful beaches of the Gulf.  Lucky for us, we can be on either side to the coast within hours - love you idea of sunrise on one coast and sunset on the other :)

Jill, Thanks for stopping by, I have to get over to your coast soon!

Eillen, When I first saw downtown Naples I thought I was on Rodeo Drive, as time goes by we get use to it!

Karen, Nest time you head south you should take a detour over to the West Coast, so beautiful!

Christine, Great contest, thanks for stopping by!

Christine - What a great way to show-off the Naples, Florida area.  I know that it makes me want to think about living on the East Coast instead of the West Coast!

Christine,

Thanks to you I understand why Florida is called the Sunshine state. Everything you say about it is so interesting, exciting, and intriguing. I would love to visit Naples again and with you too some day. I can understand from your reading why you chose Naples, Florida for your home.

Yes, we are indeed called the Sunshine State but they could also call us the Pristine Beach State!

Hi Christine.   Your post reminds me of the time I visited my folks in Naples who were renting for the winter season.   We had so much fun watching the sunsets, sipping a glass of wine, then walking over to the shops on I think it was 5th Ave.    You truly do live in paradise!

So many Floridians commenting on this post :)  I never thought about how you can watch the sunrise over the water on one side of the state and see the sunset over the water on the other.  That is such a unique feature!

What a great idea - drive from coast to coast and see the sunrise and sunset!  Never thought of that.  I've been to Florida several times as I used to live in Alabama.  Congrats on being included in Kerrie's State blog!
