2. Watt Stopper:

How many lights are on in your house at any given time and no one is in the room using them? If your house is anything like mine, there are probably quite a few. It is one of my pet peeves and a waste of energy.

Watt Stopper has the solution: occupant sensors. They run about $35-$40 at your hardware store and will turn the lights off for you when no one is in the room. They also double as the light switch. No mounting on the ceiling required.

The second product they had for residential application is good for a home office and eliminates phantom power. There are 6 sensor controlled outlets and 2 always on outlets. So, if your desk monitor, light, etc. are left on at your desk they sense when you are away and automatically shut off. The always on would be for the computer modem, fax or printer.

At first look I thought the product was something that actually could control the electricity being drawn from the panel but soon was greeted by a representative who explained the watt stoppers actually could limit electricity use in a home with occupant sensors and plug load controls.
