If you are attending GreenBuild in Chicago be sure to check out the best booths I found especially interesting, helpful, and progressive. 1. Kimberly Clark- Not only are they giving away a trip to Dominican Republic, but they also will take you through an interactive survey that only takes 2 min to determine how much carbon you generated while traveling to Chicago for the event. Then, they will pay to have your carbon offset for the event. They offset the carbon by planting trees on the American Forest Conservation Project. My carbon footprint, flying from Phoenix to Chicago, staying with my parents, and eating 7 meals/snacks/drinks per day was 20,004. That’s equivalent to 1016 gallons of gas or 12 houses monthly electricity usage!
2. GreenGuard- I was drawn to the booth because it was staged as a classroom and as a former teacher I wanted to see what they were showcasing. I found out about an amazing company that certifies products as safe for indoor air quality. Ninty percent of your time is spent indoor so air quality is majorly important! GreenGuard certifies products that are low-emitting, pollutant-free, and chemicallly monitored. This company is especially important for any enviorment where children are present as they are far more succeptable to the affects of poor indoor air quality.Poor indoor air quality can lead to adverse health affects like athsma, cancer, allergies, and compromised immune systems. 3. The Relaxation Area-
It is a more private soothing space where you can get a chair massage, sit and relax in a comfy seat, and unwind from all the stimulus outside the fabric panel walls. It was a really progressive idea to have it but seclude it in the corner of the exhibit hall. UL Environment had some funny soap that I had to pick up that said “Goodbye Green Wash”. I do wonder was it a man or woman that came up with this idea…either way all were a home run in my book!
