No one really tells you what happens in the final years of college. First, all off your friends graduate and leave you. Then, you start feeling too old to STILL be in school. And finally, when you are about to graduate there is that one class you forgot you had to take. When all of this happened to me this past year, I decieded I needed a change.
Moving to Grand Rapids was the best decision i could have made. My best friend just finished remodeling her house near East Grand Rapids, and we became roommates. It is a quiet, friendly neighborhood, such a welcome change from living in a college town.
I only moved here two weeks ago, so I havent explored much. I can get to the grocery store and mall, but thats about it! So far, one of the coolest places I've been to is the downtown farmers market. It is outdoor AND indoor and they have so many different options:
- Fresh Produce
- A meat and fish counter
- Cheese and spice shops
- A kitchen supply store
- Assorted cafes
- A juice bar and coffee shop
- A bakery
- Food trucks
It was AWESOME and it's not like any farmers market I've ever experienced. There was even a vendor called Frosty Pints that sold BEER icecream. Of course I had to try it!
Living here makes leaving "the college lifestyle" a little easier and definitely more fun. I am so excited to see what else Grand Rapids has to offer!
