The words came to me in my dream.
"People were really, really mean."
I had the good fortune of meeting a married couple with two children some month's back. They were referred to me by two of my clients. (talk about pressure!) The clients didn't know each other which it my mind meant serious business. I guess I took on the pressure like no other past client.
They had been looking for a home for a year with another Realtor and had not been successful. When I first met with them at my office, we spoke for an hour+.
Immediately, we went to work on the task at hand...getting them a home.
They'd been fortunate to have owned a condo before in an area in Rancho Cucamonga called, Terra Vista. This time, they wanted a single family residence, further West.
Got them with a local lender. This would help me sell them to a local Realtor who had the listing they decided on. Got them to write a "Dear Seller" letter....complete with pic! Got them driving by properties that met their criteria. Surprisingly since they'd grown up and lived in the area (and were now in their 40's) they know the area like the back of their hand. Whenever a home came up on their "daily blast" - which is an email that is generated by the MLS (multiple listing service) with criteria I've entered, many times they already knew that exact street and that they loved it.
We tried for 8 different homes. I even showed them a home on Mother's Day. Then it happened. WE GOT AN OFFER ACCEPTED.
We closed escrow and they are moving in this weekend. What came to me in my dream is the words the wife was saying to me....She said, "You have been a blessing to our family, Todd. In a world where it seemed next to impossible, you believed in our cause. People were mean and it was so challenging at times, we were out of breath. Then it happened. You will never know how much this home has meant to us and what you've done for our family. We'll live hear forever. You better come visit next Summer so that you can complete the picture you told me you had of me sitting by our pool in the backyard. Our new backyard and pool!" (I had told them from the MLS pics online, that there was something about that pic that I could just imagine her - the sun bunny - out sitting by this pool.
Here is a pic of their new pool.
My faith has been restored. Funny how messages come to us and sometimes it seems like we are working and working and working with no results. WELL, My message to readers today is to NOT GIVE UP.
With a little patience, understanding and teamwork....You can make a difference for a family that nobody else can. And to the families who don't know where to turn, get a Realtor who believes in your cause and who will not give up until you get your home.
I want to send a special "Thank YOU" to my special new homeowner clients. You have restored my faith in myself as a Realtor, that I can be of service even with all odds against us, and make a difference. That is one of the best feelings I know and will never forget what a privilege this has been.
There is an Italian saying, "Tutto e Possibile" - anything is possible. It's true!
*And THANKS to the powers that be, for the message in my dream.
