Arts Walk 2013 in Olympia - What Fun!

By

This year's Arts Walk in Olympia had quite a turnout, with sunny warm weather bringing out the crowds!  My sister came up from Vancouver, WA, and we had so much fun touring the different stores, restaurants and other businesses displaying local artwork of all varieties imaginable.

Creative, whimsical, beautiful - SO many examples of talent at work for the enjoyment of the crowds.  Here and there bands were also entertaining the crowds, and many shops took advantage of the event to showcase their wares.  I have to admit that walking up and down the blocks looking at artwalk, I also noticed several shops that I didn't know existed.

Luckily we had worn comfy walking shoes, because walk we did, up one block and down the other, enjoying the sunshine, the crowds, the ambiance of a festival in the midst of downtown Olympia.  Our final stop was one store with a great display of varied art - and some earrings that stopped us in our tracks.  Uh oh - too many really unusual and beautiful creations!  My sister treated me to a gorgeous red and silver pair as an early birthday present - and I know where I will be returning to do some Christmas shopping for her!

I LOVE Arts Walk - now I am eager for the spring event and more amazing artwork in Olympia!

I took art appreciation in college and never enjoyed it. I just didn't get crazy about it. I have found beauty in photography and music. The Olympia art scene isn't stuffy, it's refreshing and shows imagination...

Paul, I think that's what I most appreciate about the Arts Walk displays - you do see out & out beauty, but also so many quirky & creative pieces that are so wonderfuly inventive.
