Showcase Your State/Province - An AR Challenge
They don't call Texas the Lone Star State for no reason. Texas was once considered its own republic as it struggled to gain Independence from Mexico in 1836. Texas is the only state in the United States that was entered through treaty instead of territorial annexation.
Texas is the second largest state in The United States and it holds true to this. When people say "Everything is bigger in Texas," they aren't exaggerating! Texas is almost the size of Europe so it really is a very LARGE place!
When it comes to why I LOVE Texas there are many reason! Here are a few reasons I absolutely LOVE this State!!
Like it or not, Texans have Pride in their state. Sometimes we get a bad wrap for having a little "Too Much" Pride but I'll take it!
There are miles and miles of beautiful countryside. The hill country near San Antonio Texas is absolutely beautiful with gorgeous rivers to go tubing in with family and friends.
Right around April and Easter, you can always find hillsides covered with our state flower the bluebonnet. You can drive down a highway and see miles of land covered with these beauties.
THE FOOD!!! If you are craving anything authentic you can be sure to find it in Texas. Texas is a huge melting pot of many ethnicities.
There are NO STATE INCOME TAX here! I don't have to explain this, you can see why I love it!!
The state is so ecologically diverse. From its coasts to the panhandle Texas is so diverse. You almost feel as if you are entering different states when driving through it.
Jobs are plentiful in Texas. Let’s face it people go where their jobs take them or where they can find a job that will take them! Texas has 4 of 5 the spots for Best Big Cities to have jobs according to Forbes Magazine.
Lower Housing Costs! Texas was one of the few states that didn’t really have a direct hit when it came to the down turn of the housing market. I can’t say as Texans we weren’t affected but the housing market wasn’t near as harmed as many states. The hit that Texas did have is now taking a turn around and the housing market is jumping back. The low cost of housing makes Texas very appealing to those in states where the price of housing is much more expensive.
There are so many reasons I LOVE calling Texas my home! I would probably take up several pages if I were to write them all down. One thing I would LOVE to clear up is the stereotypes about Texas. Some people typically think of Texas as being a vast desert full of hillbillies, cowboys and horses are our mode of transportation is completely false. We don't all speak with a southern drawl and we don't ALL wear cowboys hats.
I can tell you the stereotype that people are friendly here in Texas is very true. You can always find a smiling stranger here in Texas. If you are lost someone will help and if you are in need of a hand it will be there. Texans are very friendly!
