Commissioner Ed Brimer says "The new homestead exemption will reduce Wakulla Counties Budget by around 1.5 million dollars. When this law passed, the State assured us they would "hold harmless" small fiscally constrained counties-such as Wakulla County. Governor Crist did not put the money to do this into his budget. When I asked about this, Rep Coley told me she and many of our House of Representative members are working to get this added into the budget. I doubt we will be held totally harmless but am optimistic some of our losses will be added back."
