This week's Keeping it Fresh is brought to you by Kathleen Daniels.
How long have you been in business?
10.5 years! I have been a REALTOR® since January 2003 and broker since April 2006. I started with a big-box franchise which lasted about 6 months before I moved over to a small, little known local brokerage which grew to take market share in Silicon Valley and beyond. After 9 years it grew into a big brand brokerage which did not fit my style. I went out on my own as an independent broker in January 2012. It was a great decision and I have never looked back.
What outfit do you own that makes you feel invincible?
That would be my black and white suit. I have at least 6 different tops and accessories to go with it. It is a classic look that says professional, confident and strong yet has a feminine softness that says I will take care of you – you can trust me.
What is the biggest fashion faux pas you've ever made?
Back in my Corporate America Days … Getting dressed in the early morning hours I left my house all dressed in a power suit. I had two pair of heels that were identical; one pair black suede and one pair was dark green suede. I somehow managed to wear the black shoe on the left foot and the green shoe on the right foot. I was sitting in a business meeting when I noticed. In the light, it was clear the shoes were two different colors. I carried that look the entire day … and yes, others did notice.
What celebrity is your style doppelganger?
I’m not into celebrities enough to know, watch or follow their dress styles. I know some celebrities by face but likely do not know their names. I don’t really pay attention to what they are wearing. I just don’t care enough to notice. It simply does not matter to me. I rarely watch award shows because I simply have no interest.
Best Fashion Advice?
Wear what is comfortable and makes you feel good. If we dress to impress I feel we have missed the boat. As long as we are clean and showered, our clothes are clean and pressed, and our shoes match, we will make our best first impression. By being true and genuine to who we are, versus who we think others expect us to be, we free our egos attachment to what we are wearing and allow true self to shine.
