Lake Sinclair Lane RealtyTwice today, once by email and once someone who walked into our office have told me there is a scheduled draw-down for Lake Sinclair.  Well it's a Georgia Power owned lake so I called Georgia Power and not only is there no draw-down this month there isn't even one scheduled for the foreseeable future.

When they do occur it's a wonderful time for lake property owners to do work around their seawall and docks.  It's much easier to brace up permanent dock or do seawall repairs when the water is down.  And you can pull weeds and clean up trash on the bottom along your shoreline.  But it won't be this winter.

Georgia Power is great about giving notice when a draw-down is scheduled.  Information can be found under the news table on Georgia power's site. It's a great place to book mark and check periodically.  The last information posted there was about causes for algae growing in Lake Sinclair.  The greatest cause is people over fertilizing their lawns on water front properties and the run off that puts phosphorous into our Lake.

Tammy, I'm so glad you wrote this post.  Living in Dallas where lake levels drop due to water usage and evaporation from our extreme heat, I was not aware of draw-downs.  I just read up on the topic and learned something new. Thank you!

Tammy, our area is surrounded by beautiful chain of lakes, however, because of drought the past two years, water level is extremely low, some areas are actually nothing but vegetation. This is a great, informational post for Lake Sinclair.

Never even thought about that, but for those living on Lake Sinclair it's important to know when thse draw-downs are going to occur.  Probably not the best time to plan the family reunion on the lake . . . what lake??
