There Is No Place Like Home - My Version

houseFirst part is do I like my home and second part is do I like my location.

My home is a 4 bedroom 3.5 baths with full finished basement.  We moved here 18 years ago from a 3 BR 2.5 BA home about 6 miles away that we had lived in for 15 years and that was serving our needs very well -- until my property management business started growing.

I love my home because it allowed me to keep working at home as I grew my property management business.  The full basement with full bath and separate entrance was all I needed as I went around the area leasing single family homes.  So that's the reasons we moved to our home and it has served us well.

yardThe home itself is brick front on a third acre with a beautiful natural  backyard.  I am growing native plants in the shaded back yard and have added a nice natural stone patio and wall to hang out in the shady in the heat of the sunny South.

My large deck goes all the away across the back of the house giving me plenty of room for the Vermont gas grill and two sets of patio furniture -one is always in the shade while the other the sun.

When we moved from the old home 18 years ago, my wife cried.  I asked why since we are upgrading to a new home.  She said all the memories we had in that home of 15 years.  Now we feel the same about our current home.  Some people just pick up and move - not us.  It is gong to be very hard when and if we do move again.

We live in Johns Creek Georgia, a fairly new city in North Fulton County in Metro Atlanta.  We like living in a town that is growing into it's own, while part of the metro.  Everything is here. Whole Foods, great restaurants, music halls, amphitheater, an active adult center, you name it.

However we are looking to downsize and get on one level or least a master on main with ample living space on one level.  But we like the area.  Too bad those Over 55 communities are not here in the suburbs but on the other edges of the metro.  But one day we will find the perfect home for our retirement years and I am sure we will love it and make it our new home.

Lovely place!  While it is very nice, I will take my rural area with the wildlife right out my back door

Ann and Chris yes we do love it and dread the though of moving again.  I guess that is why we are still here.  Wiliam I grew up in a small town and the though has crossed my mind retiring to a small town, however I don't think I am read to pull the tigger. Even thought about city living, moving really in town, urban style, which also has many advantages.  In the end we will probably just stay where we are!

Your home is lovely. Although we represent many empty-nesters and know all the 55+ communities here on Long Island, we are still living in a large Single Family Home. Not ready to make that move yet!

Yep, home is where your heart is - and I like the you two don't ignore that aspect. It's hard for me to see people treat a home like a shell.  So many memories, shared with loved ones  - that's what makes a home.
