What Makes Florida So Special . . . And Sarasota Even More Special? Well, one of the features that make Florida so special is the 1,350 miles of coastline, and some of the most amazing beaches in the world. Here in Sarasota we have some of the most beautiful beaches in the state. There is Longboat, Lido, Casey/Nokomis, Venice, Manasota and, of course, Siesta Key Beach, the Number 1 Beach in the USA.
On the east coast we have the Atlantic Ocean with generally rougher surf and glorious sunrises. On the West Coast we have a generally more gentle surf and spectacular sunsets. Be sure to look for the elusive Green Ray, it does exist! It happens very rarely, atmospheric conditions must be just right, and I've seen it!
Sarasota's Siesta Key Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. It has some of the whitest and finest sand to be found anywhere. In fact, the sand is 99% quartz. On the hottest summer days the sand is so cool on your feet that walking on the sand is a joy. The sand on Siesta Key Beach comes from the Appalachian Mountains and flows down rivers into the Gulf of Mexico where it makes its way to Siesta Key Beach.
Siesta Key Beach has a shallow surf near the shoreline and year round lifeguards which make it one of the safest beaches for young and old alike. The clear aquamarine waters, the gentle surf, warm beach breezes and crystalline sands truly make Siesta Key Beach the Number 1 Beach in the USA!
The beaches. That's what makes Florida so special . . . and Sarasota even more special!
