Garden

I took these photos last week on one of our beautiful February "teaser" days.  In Seattle, we were enjoying great Spring weather ... for about a week ...  it happens every year ... we are almost ready to wear shorts and then winter returns ... "Will the rain ever stop?"!  It was beautiful while it lasted though!

Stairs Garden

I found this garden several years ago as I was training for the Leukemia Stair Climb I do every year at the Columbia Tower (1,311 steps).  This Sunday will be my 13th consecutive year.  It is fun to keep in shape for it year round with sights like this wonderful garden to trek by.

I always love stories of people volunteering their time for a good cause such as the Leukemia Stair Climb.  I have another girlfriend walking for Cancer for some crazy amount of time...like 10 hours.  Hmmm....now I am inspired to give of myself....I am going to think of something.  Thanks for the kick in the pants.  Nice photos too.

because life moves you

Thanks, Ashley.  I have really enjoyed volunteering with organizations that help kids.  One of my favorites is Childhaven.  I spent time playing with kids that come from neglectful home lives.  The organization helps train parents while giving them free daycare.  The kids are so cute.

I have found opportunities with other agencies on-line but my best experiences are from finding an organization I like and then finding a volunteer position where I can interact with the people that really need help.

Hi Kate,

Great pictures--good luck with your stair climb.  Yesterday I stopped at a plant nursery and bought plants--peonies, begonias and thyme.  Then I spent some time in the afternoon planting the thyme between some stepping stones.  It was great until it started raining on me.
