Things to do in November in Nanaimo
Thanksgiving is over and done with and the spooks of Halloween are a pleasant memory, but there's still plenty to do in Nanaimo in November.
Here are 4 events that are worth taking a look at:
1. The Nanaimo Pottery Christmas Show and Sale can help you get the jump-start on your holiday shopping. You'll be able to choose from locally sourced clay from northern Alberta that's been turned into hand crafted mugs, casseroles, plates, serving dishes, wall hangings, tiles and much more. The events runs from November 1 through November 3 and you can get more information at www.NanaimoPottery.com
2. Taming of the Shrew. If you've got the classics on your mind take a look at the theatre performance of William Shakespeare's Taming Of The Shrew over at the Malaspina Theatre at the Vancouver Island University. The play is about two wealthy sisters who must be married off: One modest and demure, the other wild, ungovernable and 'shrewish'. The performance runs from November 7 through November 16 with more information at http://www.viu.ca/events/event.aspx?id=8757
3. The Kris Kringle Craft Market runs from November 14 through November 17 at Beban Park. You'll find things from over 150 high-quality BC artisans in a beautiful Christmas setting. Plus there will be live music and a food court offering gourmet coffee, hot chocolates, and tasty food offerings from Greece, the Ukraine, Farm Gate and many more. Get the details at www.KrisKringle.ca
4. The Musical Comedy Monty Python's Spamalot, lovingly "ripped off" from the 1975 film Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Like the film, this play is a highly irreverent parody of the times of King Arthur with funny, added oddities such as killer rabbits, dancing girls and featured appearances by Sir Lancelot, Sir Galahad, Prince Herbert, the Black Knight and many others. The play runs from November 14 through December 7th and you can get complete information at http://www.schmoozeproductions.com/index.php?p=1_47_Spamalot
That's just a sampling of some of the things to do in Nanaimo in November. Be sure to stay tuned for my must-do list of December activities!
