John Chesnut Park - Palm Harbor Florida - There ARE Gators in Florida!

John Chesnut Park on Lake Tarpon in Palm Harbor Florida does have gators in it, just like most lakes in our state. You might not see them since they can stay under water for several hours if conditions are right, it would be best to be careful.

I love going for long walks in John Chesnut Park since there are so many beautiful Live Oak trees there. No matter how hot it might be, there is always a breeze blowing over Lake Tarpon. That, together with the shade of those majestic Live Oaks, make it seem cooler than it would be out in the sun.

We walked well over three miles yesterday, along boardwalks and on trails that meander through the park and along the lake. If you are quiet, there are deer in the park that you might be able to catch with your digital camera.

Naturally, there is a boat ramp and the lake is full of bass. You can also go across the lake and tie your boat up at the Tarpon Turtle and have lunch there, overlooking this beautiful body of water.

Barbara-Jo so pretty. The woods, the green trees and water is very inviting. I would love to go for a walk at John Chestnut park. You are very lucky to have this area to enjoy. I love big old Oak trees too.

Have a great week.

The Gator Boys say it best... with over 1 million gators in Florida, it is a safe bet, there are enough gators to have one in nearly every water hole in the state.

Barbara Jo, we tell everyone that if there is water - stay away - there is something most likely lurking in there.

Hi Barbara Jo,

Walking 3 miles is a pretty good hike and Chestnut Park is an excellent place to walk. Just be careful of the local gators that is for sure. excellent pictures as always in your posts.
