What a great contest this month. This gives us all an opportunity to "brag" a little bit about the things we've all worked incredibly hard for in the real estate community. We all know that our jobs are incredibly stressful and for the most part, we work some crazy hours to get the job done. Those things make home such a great place to be.
For me, one of my favorite places in my house is actually not even in my house...it's my detached "garage." Over the past couple years my garage has gone through quite a transformation.

When I first bought the house my garage had two 60 watt incandescent bulbs lighting up the space. There was no ceiling, just rafters, no insulation and the only way in and out was through the garage door (which had no opener either.)
Before:

Last winter I set out to make the space a place I could be comfortable working on motorcycles in the winter as well as a place for my friends and I to congregate, smoke a cigar, and have a tasty beverage. I started by putting in a ceiling and blowing in some insulation. I also added a window for some venitlation (or even an air conditioner) and a man door near the opposite end. Next I insulated the walls and put up drywall. This was my first attempt at finishing drywall too and didn't turn out too bad. I ran some new circuits for electrical outlets as well as an eletric heater I hung from the ceiling. For the floor I put down Vinyl Composition Tile (VCT) similar to what you see in a grocery store. After the walls were painted I put in some cabinets near the front making sure I saved some space for the fridge too! The best part was the surround sound, BluRay player and 40 inch plasma TV! I can stream music and movies right off of the internet there.
After:

It's hard to believe that's actually still the same space!
