So.
I've been inspired by many AR members, including Debb Janes, Debbie Reynolds, Fernando Herboso and Charlie Dresen, to start getting serious about using video in my blog. I have listened to them, and I know they're right about the power of video.
But it isn't something that you can just jump into, so I started with Craig Daniels' excellent video class - Craig is still working on it, but you can sign up for the initial modules, which I found to be tremendously helpful - got some video editing software and started to make videos. And I just bought a new video camera - the iPhone and iPad just don't really cut it in the ease of use category and they're both a bit short on some necessary features, like zoom and audio.
There are two challenges I'm facing now - being in front of the camera and doing voice narration. Neither is easy for me. But watching the pros here on AR, I realize that I'm just going to have to get on with it.
So when I headed home last night, I had the idea that it might be cool to practice while making dinner. And I decided that, having made the video, I might as well put it out there for friends (that would be you guys) for a test drive before doing some real estate videos and exposing myself, so to speak, in front of a much less forgiving audience - the home buying and selling public.
So here then, for your edification, is my debut - Onion Soup. Any suggestions or constructive criticism are definitely welcome. And as a bonus, it is a pretty good recipe and easy to make.
