This is RICH!!!

Garrett on the slideOMG, I can barely contain myself.  Seriously.

I have about 30 blogs I keep up with every day... most every day.  And, if you didn't figure out from this post, one of them is the President's Report from the NAR.

So, this evening I was reviewing my reading and up popped this post.  Could it be that enough of YOU here on little ol' A/R shook up the NAR leadership?

We understand that blogs are designed to be both informative and interactive. When we put thoughts here, we want to inspire discussion and comments from you.

...

I am pleased to say that we have received dozens of comments – some positive, some critical. Considering how much we are traveling (I am in Italy right now), we won’t respond to every comment and question, but I assure you that we read ALL of the comments – even if we can’t post them or respond. {bold added by me}

Jay Thompson beat me to the punch... and got his comment published.  He has a MUCH (stratospherically) more read outside blog.  Maybe that got him posted...

But I sincerely hope you are not selectively picking and choosing which comments to post...

So, I think that we were noticed.  But, sadly, the leadership at the NAR are still having trouble understanding what transparency entails.  I want to help...

If it isn't obscene, and doesn't attack people personally, it should probably be posted.

If in doubt, let the comment through.

And I would like to thank the scores of members and others that commented on the other post.  Your comments are the reason the post was noticed by the NAR leadership.

Unfortunately I do believe in blocking comments on blogs, some are major rants and others can be plain "off topic". I don't see a lot of that type of activity on AR, but I do elsewhere. Let's give us a pat on the back for being a welol-ordered community.

Lane:  Just a quick note of thanks for all the work and extreme effort you have been putting in on this.  I hate to admit it, but I have just now noticed this series of posts of yours.  I will go back and start at your first post about this... and gradually bring myself up to date.  Again, thank you for all your effort.

Hi Lane,

The only thing I would do different with a national organization is block comments that are clearly intended to accumulate points and that offer nothing new to the conversation, personal attacks, and the usual obscene etc.

I think that NAR does a loot of good, but it has been my belief for some time that they forget who their customers are!

Vickie - Blocking comments from members just because they criticize your position is intellectually dishonest.  And then to try to pass it off as you just "can't post all of them" is dishonest.

Karen - Not that much work... Not that many posts.

Richard - No points for commenting on the NAR blog... also not likely that I would be getting many consumers following my link back.

Terry - The words that come to my mind are lip and service.

Lane: I appreciate your efforts in this direction.  What is the purpose of a blog anyway, if it is not open to all (minus obscene posts, etc.)?  If I wanted my opinions to be screened, I'd write a Letter to the Editor.

By the way...I don't know who that little man is in the picture, but he is ADORABLE!!

Kim - The new NAR post is actually exemplifying some good blog etiquette from the responses I see being published (we don't know what didn't get published).  They might be starting to get it...  But I guess they deleted my comment on the blog post that started it all...

The little guy is Mini Me #1.  His pictures make pretty regular appearances in my blog.  Mini Me #2 made his debut here.  I'm sure that he will be picked up as an active graphic element as well.

Both Mini Me's are precious!!  You are a very lucky Daddy!  And here's to hoping that you've helped us all make progress with the NAR.

Lane - you have faith in an organisation that is all about increasing membership and therefore income and not about a whole lot more. There are too many individual political ambitions in the way.

Lane, I think it's this kind of squeaky wheel which will get NAR to sit up and take notice.

Kim - Thank you.

Simon - I don't have faith in the NAR.  I have faith in the members.  The NAR will have to react at some point when the cry from the membership reaches an unavoidable level.

Colleen - Let's get squeaky...

I wish you were right Lane, but somehow I doubt that you are. I just don't think they care and I don't think they get it.
