After hearing an interview with Israeli PM Netanyahu in which he praised our government model, he added that maybe Israel has one idea better than ours for creating a budget.
First, if the deadline passes for a budget with no agreement, 1/12th of last year's budget goes into effect for the next 30 days. If no agreement is reached at the end of those 30 days, again, another month based upon last year's budget. This goes on for 6 months or until a new budget agreement is reached.
Secondly, if 6 months passes with no agreement, every seat in the Knesset (Their version of Congress) is put up for a new election. Every seat! They have never reached that to date.
I don't see why an amendment like this wouldn't achieve the same results here.

Furthermore, as a Christian, I personally don't concern myself with what Washington is doing. I am not part of the 1% but of the 2%. By some estimations, only 2% of Christians are fully sold out for Jesus, follow his teachings and do the will of the Father. 2%!! I believe that our home is in that 2%.
Some will say we're just sticking our head in the sand and are being irresponsible and ridiculous. We prefer to call it sticking our heads into the Spirit realm where we can effect the most change. Our secular government is way past the point of return from where we started. Nothing we do in the natural will be able to turn that ship, it has sailed.
But God... the 2 most powerful words in scripture is what we hang on to. But God has a plan, we tune into that plan and not the plans of man. The plans of man will fail, the plans of God never fail. He has a perfect track record. I challenge anyone to show me a scripture that shows Jesus was concerned about the government that ruled in His day. He didn't come to replace government. He did say to the ruler of His territory that the only power he had was what was given to him from Heaven. Think about that for a few minutes. All governmental power is granted by God. By all accounts the Romans were pretty heavy handed and corrupted severely. Is our government any different? Maybe a bit more civil and fair minded but then that can go too far sometimes as well.
The debt limit is not a big deal. Maybe somebody needs to cut up our credit cards. There will be pain at sometime in our history financially. You can't spend 200 million dollars an hour and have to borrow to do it and yet remain afloat for ever. There is a precipice ... but God!
So don't concern yourself or worry about tomorrow if you are His. Tomorrow has enough worries of it's own. What we are commanded to do is this, pray for our leaders. Pray that they follow Godly and Biblical principles. Submit to our authorities in the ways you are legally bound and don't be anxious about what they are doing. Render unto Caesar what is Caesar's and render unto God what is His. If you are His, just give yourself fully to Him and stop worrying about what Washington is doing. You belong to a much bigger government.
(We personally don't have health care insurance. We don't need it nor want it. We still won't want it until such time as it's more expensive to pay the fine than it is to have it or when it returns to a true insurance. At that time we'll go with Medi-Share and the highest possible deductible. I have no doubts that we'll ever need it. God told us we wouldn't and I believe what He tells us. However, I understand the premise of why our leaders want it for everyone.)
There is a time coming when all of America will be witnessing God's Glory. His manifest presence will invade our lives. You'll see people who you never thought could change their ways, suddenly change in the blink of an eye. You'll see devastating illnesses suddenly be healed. You'll see dead being raised and not by EMTs. You'll suddenly see people be more concerned with others than they are with themselves. When His Glory falls, all things will change. China is seeing it now. In only one generation, Christianity has gone from less than 20,000 Christ followers to an estimated 160 million and growing rapidly!! And all this with the Bible being an illegal book to own in China currently. I pray it doesn't take that kind of persecution here but it might.
We were given a word from a well known prophet the other week and in summary it was this: The fear and anxiety of what's to come will be much greater than the actual occurrence's. Those who stand with Christ will know neither. When you are His, you can sleep through any storm that comes. Remember, there is no better seat in the house than seated in Heavenly Places, with the King of all Kings.
