Today my neighbor Scott and Don my walking club partner from the Senior Center and myself went to the Petit Lemans race at Road Atlanta.
We had a pass to get in the paddock area and see the race cars and the drivers, which is a thrill. So we were waiting inside the track but waiting at the paddock gate where they usually let you enter.
So Scott says dang my camera battery is dead, wait for me while I go to the car to get my other battery. So we are waiting only a moment when this event guy announces that everyone should go to the other end of the paddock, which is a long ways way, to enter. Dang we were in the wrong place! Well I told Scott I would wait for him here so I will stay right here. I was beginning to think we are going to miss out on the pre race fun. Boy was I wrong!
Just to confirm we should be somewhere else, I walk over to a woman in racing attire and ask about the change in gate. To my surprise she asks if I would like to a take a lap around the track? YES! I motion Don over and she asks us to sign a form and then puts Don in a Corvette and me in a Viper and off we go. She said we were in the right place at the right time! I guess so. We loved it. Here is the video from my Smart-phone. I am giggling the whole time.
It feels good to be in the right place and the right time sometimes.
