Don't you love all the pumpkin patches around at this time of year. It seems every church and community center has a pumpkin patch where you can visit, buy a pumpkin and more. It really does add to the festive atmosphere of the Fall season and with the turning leaves and cool air rolling in.
This week our friends Larry and Dorothy took us up to North Georgia to JAEMOR Farms Market where they had all the pumpkin attractions and a lot more. I discovered an attraction in the beautiful North Georgia Mountains that is a great place to visit anytime.

JAEMOR Farms is run by a family that has been harvesting crops on this 300+ acre farm for 100 years. At the farm store you can buy homemade fresh breads, jams and jellies, pickles, relishes, BBQ sauces, marinades, dressings, pies, ice creams, cakes and that GA mountain favorite boiled peanuts!

This is just the start as I saw the biggest most varied selection of fresh grown produce I have even seen. It was all grown right here on the farm, not purchased at some farmers market and shipped in. Their slogan is "We were local before local was cool!". I love locally grown and JAEMOR's prices were reasonable too, not like the high priced local produce I see in the suburbs of Atlanta.
We bought some butter milk squash, acorn squash, fresh mountain corn and I had to get me a jar of their Strawberry Preserves.
The large JAEMOR store is an attraction in itself. I visited the tasting tables serving homemade pimento cheese, apple pie and apple cider. The many varieties of fruits and vegetables was something to see. People were excited about the store and filling up their shopping carts with their "finds".
JAEMOR has pick your own fields and a "Picking Calendar" right on their website. Peaches, apples, many fruits and vegetables that can be picked fresh off the vine when in season.
Attractions are around the farm too. In additional to the Farm store there is "The Barn at JAEMOR Farms" that is equipped with kitchen facilities, stage and restrooms and "The Shed at JAEMOR Farms which is a great pavilion for outdoor events. They have a place called Sweet House BBQ, a traditional Georgia BBQ store.
This place is such an attraction they even host school field trips in the fall and the spring! Seasonal themes like Halloween are just that much more of a reason to visit with all the outdoor attractions. We saw pumpkins of all sorts, even white pumpkins, a first for me. Pumpkins patches and of course and the hayride through the farm. I understand why JAEMOR Farms has become a family tradition to visit especially during special times of the year. So take a break and ride up 985 from Atlanta to JAEMOR in North Georgia for a nice day trip.
