Los Angeles 411: Quick Culture, Los Angeles County

Interested in introducing your kids to cultural venues, but not sure how to make the experience as exciting for them as it is for you? Instead of hearing complaining during your museum experience, how about hiring Quick Culture to help? Quick Culture for Kids is a private tour company that makes museum visits fun for ages 6-12. Your kids' bored expressions will be replaced with engaged attitudes as kids embark on a cultural adventure!

Quick Culture

During the one hour visit to a cultural center such as the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and other galleries in the Los Angeles area, children are asked thought-provoking questions and asked to manipulate various artistic props designed to spark each child's curiosity and imagination. By applying art to relevant aspects of children's lives, kids learn to see the value art plays in their everyday experiences. Quick Culture for Kids believes in "… ensuring that art is a fundamental part of the lives of all children …. and that they “emerge inspired, confident and cultured in a whole new way."

The Art Guide Team is comprised of co-founders/owners Ellen Greenberg and Charlotte Robinson, who together, have given art/culture tours to over 1,000 museum visitors. Both have completed the Los Angeles County Museum of Arts' docent program, and have backgrounds in costume design; Ellen has also authored a book and been a guest lecturer at UCLA. Both Ellen and Charlotte have a passion for the arts and for sharing their enthusiasm with others.

Quick Culture

Quick Culture also offers children the “Art & Culture” after school program, which is an educational enrichment journey clustered in 8-week sessions. These sessions teach children the vocabulary of the arts, show them art elements to look for when viewing art and opens discussion questions about art. In addition, students are introduced to artists who specialize in their crafts such as book authors and illustrators, film industry professionals and other artists. Toward the end of each session, students embark on a “walk and talk” art adventure during which they can use their new art appreciation vocabulary to discuss artwork at neighborhood galleries.

Dedicated to sharing their passion for the arts with all ages, Quick Culture also offers private tours for any age group and even travel tours of museums and artwork abroad. Tuscany, Prague, and Vietnam are among the Art Trips that have been offered by Quick Culture. Tours offered in other languages and birthday party options are also available. To arrange a tour, simply send an email info@quickculture.com or call (310) 800-6710.

What a great idea. I love it. The attitudes developed at a young age are so darned important - hopefully, these young minds will grow up with a wonderful curiosity and knowledge about the arts.

That is a great idea, Ralph!  I can't imagine a child OR an adult that wouldn't enjoy that - we definitely need more art appreciation for the younger ones.
