California is the Place to Be-Live Here, Retire Here or Move Back

California is the place to be for many reasons; great year-round weather, deserts, mountains, beaches, affordable housing, great schools, and is #2 for the number of golf courses in the US.

With so many amusement parks, world famous natural playgrounds and scenic landscapes, it is no wonder that California attracts millions of visitors from all over the world. Only in this state can one experience the likes of stunning coastal drives, a forest of the world’s tallest trees, a lake that offers year-round fun, magical theme parks and shows starring killer whales. I feel exceptionally lucky to be living in this state. I agree with all the reasons that you have made. I did watch a CBS segmant from Money Magazine this morning, that point to several places in the east for retirement.  When asked about west coast places, the commentator pointed to cost of living as being a factor that kept us from the list.  Much of California is costly, and our taxes could be lower.  Still, we can't beat the weather, the landscape, and other amenities that nature provides.

  Hi Myrl,

I decided not to put any negative factors into my post as all states have issues but we do have great roads and beautiful places to go visit  and we have many parking lots all over the state. I was visiting a family member in another state recently and if you have a car it is more of a problem than just taking a subway, bus or we took cabs but pricey. We did rent a car and stayed at hotels that did not charge more than $50 a night. California doesn't have that problem. Happy Autumn.

Hi Jennifer,

I remember when my mother begged my dad to move back to Tennessee after he retired from the Air Force, and he said no way as he hated the cold and California had the best weather. So we are still here 49 years later. Thanks for stopping by.
