Cresswind at Lake Lanier started as a Levitt Brothers development. Levitt Brothers in the real estate crash went into bankruptcy. I thought that was going to be the end of Cresswind, but as it turns out it was for the better. Much better. This 55+ community was taken over by a new group who finished all the homes under construction and built this beautiful activities building you see above.
Cresswind is now one of the most sought after 55+ communities in the Atlanta area. It is located on beautiful Lake Lanier in Gainesville GA about 50 miles Northeast of Atlanta. Another active adult community in the Northeast Georgia mountain foothills.
When I visited for a tour I was very impressed with the great model home park, the wonderful full service activities clubhouse pictured above, and the layout and quality of the homes being built.
Many of the 5 million people in the Atlanta area would like to retire in the area and moving to Cresswind allows someone from Atlanta to retire to a resort property while close enough to stay in contact with friends, relatives and associates. It is only an hour North of Atlanta so you can still take advantage of some things the city offers while fully enjoying the active adult lifestyle.
