When living in the Mid-Atlantic, nothing beats exploring the culture of Washington D.C., while catching a Nationals baseball game at the same time. In those trips to Nationals Field, fans regularly stop by to a grab a burger or steak, but how about some sushi? Kruba Thai and Sushi is located on Water Street in downtown D.C. and has become a local favorite largely due to its extra spicy recipes and restaurant originals.

First, before talking about food, the decor is worth a mention. Made from original wood, from the floors to the tables, the restaurant has an organic feel upon entering. The restaurant has a calming effect that is a stark contrast to the hustle and bustle of the city.

Kruba Thai and Sushi has the normal sushi fare when it comes to a restaurant like this; however, what sets it apart are the originals. Customers have fallen in love with the restaurant's original Deep Fried Duck, which is made with a recipe combining sweet basil and chili garlic for a specialized kick. Also, a local favorite is the lime & chili steamed rockfish - better known to some as snapper. Sushi can be made to order and, as is the case with many Asian-inspired restaurants, there are new versions of sushi treats rarely seen anywhere else. Among these include a crazy roll filled with an exotic mixture of mango and eel. Patrons will also want to try the restaurant's original Sushi Roll mixed with sea favorites such as scallop, shrimp and black tobiko.

Lastly, no great restaurant can stand out without unique beverages with which to wash down the food! At Kruba D.C., the standout beverage is the Kamotsuru Tokusei Gold, which is touted by the restaurant as the first Daiginjo (sake made with rice) ever made. Restaurant patrons say this beverage is an especially good compliment to most meals served with a large portion of salmon.

Kruba Thai and Sushi is proof that a little exotic taste is a nice detour from the usual American fare when headed to downtown D.C. With new creations every year, the hope is that you will stay hungry for more.
