3 Tips for Posh Pinterest Boards

3 Tips for Posh Pinterest Boards

You’ve jumped into one of the fastest growing social media platforms so you can be part of the Pinterest movement. You’re hearing from every corner that you venture into on how Pinterest works for business.

Pinterest is great for business if you have a plan, yet don’t expect to thrive while taking shortcuts. As with any marketing you must have a plan if you want to succeed at what it is 3 Tips for Posh Pinterest Boardsyou’re targeting.  I’ve seen too many attempt a shortcut and shortcuts routinely result in dead ends. Put your plan into action and you’ll see your Pinterest profile rank well.

Know that it’s not just about gaining as many followers as you can. You first need to plan for your pins across your Boards with content, keywords, hashtags and links to your sites.  Remember that it’s not about loading up on these items, as that will be the fastest way to turn off a potential follower and Google. We’re now in the age of quality content (thank goodness) and the same goes for your pins. If you don’t put out quality, you’ll suffer. However, put out the good stuff and your rankings will increase and know that each of your Board rankings will vary across your Boards. I have an overall Pinterest ranking and then my individual Board’s rankings vary, as I’m sure yours will too. The greater the attraction created by your Boards, the greater the likelihood of higher ranking Boards.

Pinterest is all about optimizing what you want your Pinterest Boards to say about you and the brand you want to expose. It is so simple to do with visuals.

You can also visit The Social Media Hat to find out more ways in which to promote yourself as a Real Estate Agent where Pinterest is also highlighted.

Try these tips below to make sure your Boards are posh.

1.  Use a method to the placement of your Boards. Don’t just throw out a Board to let it fall where it may.

For example, my business is Real Estate so I want to highlight my Real Estate Boards and any boards that easily compliment the Real Estate Industry. However, like any social media platform you don’t want to throw your business in the face of your potential followers 100% of the time - you want to mix it up.

You can mix up your Boards by spacing out your business Boards as I do with my Real Estate Boards where I place a row of Real Estate Boards and then I’ll mix in  rows of non-Real Estate and then I will bring in another row of Real Estate Boards. Or if you don’t have a row of business Boards, perhaps a couple Boards placed side by side and then followed by non-business Boards.

Great compliments to your Boards can be placed near your business Boards too, like I do with the natural Real Estate fits with rooms of a home; family room, living room, kitchen, bathroom, etc; all perfect compliments in my business.  Each business will have it’s own compliments that would work well here.

Now mixed amongst your Boards are those things that make you tick. What makes you go all a flutter, what do you like to eat, what makes you laugh, are you a techie, fitness advocate, cat lover or a dog lover, intrigued by cars, drawn to sports, and on and on.  Your followers love to see this side of you, as they see your professional business side from your business Boards, but now they see that indeed you’re human and you like to eat green eggs & ham just like they do! And again, these Boards can be grouped together too, with other like complimentary Boards.  For example, I have a “Being a mom”, “Being a dad” and “For your kids”.  I like to put those near each other as a follower skimming my pages for kids may likely be able to relate to the mom or dad Board too.

2.  Keep your Boards fresh by changing the cover of your Boards periodically and be sure to position them ideally too.

Did you know that you can change your Board’s cover? Just hover over a Board, and you see “Change Cover” highlighted. Click on that and you’ll be taken to all of the pins on your Board that you can scroll through to select one of the pins to use as your Board cover.

Once you have selected a Cover for your Board be sure to move it around so it is placed to be visually appealing.   You simply click and hold and then move the cover around until it is placed, just right.  For example, if you have a face, don’t cut the face in two as it lands as your cover Board, but move it around so the whole face appears. Remember, Pinterest is all about being visually appealing. Make sure your covers are appealing.

3.  Consider having a Board of the Week or a Board of the Month highlighted in the top left hand corner of your Board’s first row.

You could highlight any Business specials or calls to action. How about highlighting a holiday like the upcoming Thanksgiving and Christmas. You could also place one of your favorite boards there. Got an announcement to make, put it there. The list of ideas goes on and on. What’s your idea?

Loving Pinterest and I hope you are too and by all means, if you’re not yet pinning to your heart’s and business content, what are you waiting for?!

You are the master Pinterest'or.  I do catagorize my posts into fairly proper and logical boards.  But, I find that there are not many people that are actually really using and clicking around on Pinterest.  They seem to scroll through the pictures and never click on the source.

Pinterest is so easy to use, and fun, too!  I change my Pinterest Covers at least once a week, usually more frequently, since people like to see new images being featured.
