The great 20th century philosopher and mathematician
Bertrand Russell once said, “There are two motives for reading a book; one, that you enjoy it; the other, that you can boast about it.”
In a way, the same thing can be said of the great Gabe Sanders.
I enjoy reading the things Gabe has to say, and I can boast that such a fine man is a part of the ActiveRain family of members.
I've always felt like I've had a bit of a connection to Gabe.
Gabe was a military pilot.
I was an airframe and powerplant mechanic when I was a kid in my twenties.
Gabe flew big transport planes for the Air Force during the war in Indo China, and later, jumbo jets.
I was a lieutenant in ROTC and the Civil Air Patrol
and flew sorties looking for lost, small general aviation aircraft.
Gabe's family escaped revolutionary persecution in Eastern Europe.
My family escaped revolutionary persecution in Eastern Europe.
And Gabe has a sense of humor.
That says everything and means a bunch when the chips are down.
Winston Churchill once said, “My tastes are simple: I am easily satisfied with the best.”
I believe that if Mr.Churchill were alive he could have said this of
Gabe Sanders.
Gabe might wonder whether I'll carry a pitchfork one day.
But I know that he's earned his wings, and my respect :-)
I sincerely hope that we'll get together one great day
for some unforgettable good laughs.
Three Cheers for Gabe !
