Inspector with blinders on. Home inspection in Artesia, New Mexico.

When Inspecting homes for buyers and seller. Desert Sun Inspections not only has to find the issues if any with the home. But we have to seek out anything that may be hidden by the builder when building the home.

Many of these issues we find is out in the open.

This brings me to the title of this post.

Inspector with blinders on. Home inspection in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

The local building inspectors should find issues with the builders that should be written up as needing to be repaired or finished.

Are these local inspectors that get paid good money actually inspecting the way they should be?

I say not in any way. I have found blatant issues with homes that should have never been approved by the building inspector in the normal process of building and inspecting the phase construction.

 Remember the last post?

I kept saying WHY! Desert Sun Home Inspection in Artesia New Mexico.
See it here.

Here is a look at the attic area of the huge home I inspected for the buyers.
Missing insulation in the attic was and is prevalent everywhere.
Missing insulation.
How could this not be seen by the local inspector unless they simply did not look at the attic?
There were other issues with the attic's conditions as well.
Here is the exposed plumbing for a bath. The pipe's are exposed to the attic. And again, missing insulation.
Exposed piping and missing insulation.
This should have never passed inspection.
Exposed water lines in attic.
These are water lines that are exposed in the attic as well.
With these issues, there is clear and unreported evidence that the homes attic areas were never inspected by anyone with a vested interest in the way the home was being built.

Finding these kinds of blatant issues makes me mad as a home inspector. These issues should never be found in such a new home. But I find these issues all the time.

Hi Adrian,

I have a busy week and weekend this week. No rest for the weary. But they never did look in the attic. That would mean they had to get out of their truck.

Have a nice day in the Seattle area today.

Hi Rob,

No one is going to find every little thing as we inspect homes. I know what you mean by the inspectors missing issues in the open. Like in the attic in the post.

Have a great day down in Florida.

So interesting Clint, the building inspectors I find are so tough when someone is renovating but when the builders slap a house they let them loose!  great finds for these buyers!

Clint: While we see issues as well, I have yet to see or hear of anything this blatantly not checked.

All I can say is thank goodness you did not find and duct tape.  I wonder where Uncle Bob is?  I'm sure you'll find his handiwork soon enough

Hi Ginny,

I don't know why these issues were not called out unless the home simply was not inspected properly.

Have a good weekend in North Kingstown.

Hi Anita,

The home was not correctly inspected if at all. Signing off the C of O is not a good thing when issues remain.

Have a good weekend in Warner Robins.

Hello Tom,

This may be the reason the inspector that used to be there is no longer there. Never know what kinds of deals are made in private.

Have a great day in Sacramento.

Hello Conrad,

That would get me in a lot of hot water with the building inspectors all over. This would mean they would take it out on any Realtor using my services out of spite. Not a good thing.

Have a great day in Webster my friend.

Hi Toni,

Even a blind inspector could have felt there was no insulation, exposed lines etc. Stupid things to find for sure.

Have a nice weekend in Trinity, Florida.

Hi Jay,

I believe that the home was not inspected when being built. This brings us into a lot questions about the way the home was built.

Have a great day in Bristow.

Hi Jay,

I am guessing the local inspector did or say they did inspect the home. How else were they going to get the C of O for the home to be moved into?

This is the kind of crap I deal with almost every time I go out to inspect a home. Especially newer homes.

Have a good day in Bristow my friend.
