The Bug Chicks are coming to Vancouver WA - Find your inner bugdork.

The Bug ChicksThe Bug Chicks are coming to town this month to help us find our inner bugdork. Kristie Reddick and Jessica Honaker (aka The Bug Chicks) are entomologists who travel around the country to bring us a closer look at the fascinating world of insects.

Get your bugdork on for Free!

You’re invited to the free event on Sunday, October 27th, from 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM at the Water Resources Education Center, 4600 SE Columbia Way.  It’s sponsored by Environmental Services and the county’s Green Neighborhood Wildwatch Program.

The Bug Chicks will open your eyes.

Plan on spending a fun, free and family-oriented afternoon learning about a world we often ignore. Or perhaps, it's one we choose to ignore, because it seems a bit creepy. The Bug Chicks will inspire you (and your family) to get “off the couch” and explore the wilderness in your own backyard.

Here’s an example of how the duo teach us about nature in their fun and quirky videos.

ViewHomes™ grew out of our passion for nature, beautiful surroundings, and peaceful environments. Starting together in an urban environment, over the years we've gravitated towards areas with smaller populations and less density. We now enjoy our lifestyle in a rural environment, but with close proximity to metropolitan areas where we appreciate all the amenities of fine restaurants, shopping, and an easy drive to an international airport.
Living in ViewHomes™ is like having “elbowroom for the soul”.

Great name, The Bug Chicks!! I'm glad someone is setting an example to young girls that it's OK to like bugs and find them interesting.

It's alright Anita, I'm a real little girl when I see a spider. ;)

Hi Alexandra - it is a  great idea.  Teaching kids about bugs and nature is a very smart thing to do. It's our understanding of how it all works that ensures the future of a healthy planet. ( IMHO)

I just HAD to open this post with that GREAT title!  I am far from being a bugdork, but this actually sounds like a great activity for Halloween as I find bugs to be pretty scary!

Debb,

I loved the Bug Chicks Video. They are great and funny too. When you're having fun, you can learn a lot. I was really impressed with this video and I hope they pay a visit to Dallas soon.

Your posts are always educational and fun!

Thank you Debb!

Bugs are amazing, and like most of you. I prefer them at a distance and outside. My oldest son and his family are staying in Hawaii for 6 weeks. Their outdoor shower sits under banana trees that are filled with large, very large spiders. My daughter in law says she had a frog and several geckos sharing the shower with her yesterday - and she kept a watchful eye on the spiders hanging above her. Eeeks.

Debb, Fun post. That would be a kick. It reminds me when I got to meet Bill Nye. Love when someone can make science fun.

Yep, it's pretty cool. I also like Food Science - can't remember the name of the guy who does it on the Food Channel, but it's fun.
