Home is Where you Get that Warm & Fuzzy Feeling
One of our first memories as a child is where we lived, our family members, our pets and our stuff.
It can be a big house, a small house, an apartment but usually has at least 4 walls and a roof and is a place we go for shelter and usually to eat.
My husband and I started out renting an apartment and then bought a condo. Then we bought a townhouse, and so on until we finally bought the house we live in now.
It is our home where our kids grew up, where we usually hosted almost every Easter, Christmas and Thanksgiving for our entire family. We have celebrated Anniversaries, Birthdays, Mother's and Father's Day, and even a wedding in our living room.
Pool parties for the sport's team, my Garden Club's annual brunch. A place where we experience happiness, illness and death; happy memories and also sad ones.
A place to come home at night and discuss the daily events with your loved ones and also a refuge to hide out from the world after a hectic day. Starting with a blank slate and making this sterile house into a home that is a reflection of yourself. Memories of the day you planted that fruit tree that is now 25 ft high or when you painted the kitchen yellow and then hated the color. When you saved up for your first new living furniture or had a patio cover built or when they delivered the baby furniture for the nursery.
Hundreds of memories all wrapped up under your 4 walls that you call your home; a place to laugh, to cry and to love.
I love my home for many reasons. I have such good memories here and love to come home every day and visit with my husband and see my 3 darling pets. Our home is a place for the kids to come home during the holidays and spend Christmas opening presents and just hanging around being themselves. I love to cook in my kitchen and barbecue on the patio. Gardening in yard and feeding the birds are one of my greatest joys....just second to real estate.
Probably the favorite place in my house is the great room as that is where everyone gathers and we just have a good time cooking, eating, watching TV or just visiting.
The second favorite place in my house is sitting on the patio in the mornings and watching the birds while drinking my coffee and reading my email.
Your house doesn't have to be beautiful or new or decorated perfectly but all it has to have is you in it. Your home has your loved ones, your things, your memories and it should give you that warm and fuzzy feeling. .
