Join me for Spaghetti in Humble tonight March 14, 2008

The Humble Rotary has an annual Spaghetti Dinner at the Humble Civic Club every year. The men all cook the spaghetti and serve it. The women make deserts and have a raffle.

It is from 5-8. They have silent auctions, live auction, entertainment, etc. They also raffle off a car every year. I believe those tickets are $100 each and 600 raffle tickets are sold. My mother buys me a ticket every year hoping one year we will win a car but so far no car. lol. Every 50th raffle ticket or so drawn(don't quote me on that) wins a prize as well.

I searched the internet and could find NOTHING about this event. It's been a family tradition in our house since I was 10 years old. My dad is one of the rotarians serving tonight. He's usually in the to-go line.

The price for a spaghetti plate is either $8 or $9. I can't remember!!!! Regardless, it is for a good cause and you never know who you will be rubbing elbows with. There are some well known people there every year.

Hope to see you there!!!

Well, I didn't win a car again this year but the money went to a good cause.

Cheri:

Sounds like it was fun. Sorry you didn't win the car but there is always next year.

I was in Humble last week visiting my daughter.  I will have to mention the dinner to them.

I do hope you had a large turnout and that the Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser was a success.

Well, I don't know the numbers but I do know that they are very successful at helping great causes. They have gone to Nicaraugua (so?) to help villages clean up their drinking water and they give scholarships and help many non-profits with donations like HAAM.

Everyone should get involved in Rotary if they have one in their area. Humble isn't my area but because my parents are in that area I travel the distance.
