Just hanging around on a Sunday morning...in Kiev trying to help Ukraine get into the European Union. Anyway, I receive an email from Neiman Marcus. HUGE sale!! Yipee!!! With all of the excitement of a 5 year old at Christmas (yes, I said the "C" word - LOL), I hurredly clicked on the link.
First page, all ugly women's dresses (the dresses, not the women). Hmmm, Okay. So I click on "men's sale". FOUR Items and three of them were exceedingly ugly pairs of socks that no man would wear!!!
3,737 items for women and 4 for men. Three of the four were not suitable for 9 out of 10 barnyard animals.
Why bother marketing a sale when you are losing a huge portion of the buyer base (men)? Sure, men buy things for women but women buy things for men too!!
This is a case of marketing reality versus perception, Neiman Marcus turned a good thing (a sale) into an unpleasant experience (ugly socks and 4 items for men).
