What you should know about 46th Annual Mountain Moonshine Festival
The Mountain Moonshine Festival has a long running history in the beautiful North Georgia town of Dawsonville. Before the outlet mall and restaurants, Dawsonville had another claim to fame. It was 4-lane highway which was the moonshine expressway. The making of moonshine is not limited to the North Georgia Mountains. However, the counties of North Georgia have a rich and somewhat checkered history of distilling and distrusting untaxed and unregulated alcohol. Counties such as Dawson, Lumpkin, Pickens, and Gilmer became major suppliers of moonshine during the 1930’s and 40’s.
The 46th Annual Mountain Moonshine Festival celebrates its history with family fun for everyone. Some of the attractions are the Moonshine Parade, Car Shows, live entertainment, and the opportunity to meet many legendary race car drivers. These are just a few of the many fantastic events being held at the Mountain Moonshine Festival.
