Come visit GEORGIA Once here Atlanta and Georgia will be on YOUR mind!

Ever heard the song “Georgia on my Mind”? There's a good reason for Georgia to stay on one's mind – natural beauty and geographic diversity. If Georgia is on your mind for the adventure of home-hunting in the Metro Atlanta area,  Atlanta Homes ODAT Realty awaits to assist you with the journey.

Starting with one important fact about Georgia, our wonderful state is BIG!  East of the Mississippi, Georgia reigns in size. Going North to South inside the state one covers 350 miles on a journey from Tennessee to the Florida line. In fact,  Connecticut(my birth state) would fit into Georgia twelve times! Lots of room for great adventures!

Distance is just the beginning of the learning opportunities while living in Georgia.  The size gives us geographic diversity. Here in the Metro Atlanta area, we live on the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. Drive the 250 miles and 3.5 hours to Savannah and you are in the savannah coastal area. Going South from Savannah, the Atlantic Ocean coastline awaits to enchant the eyes and spirit. Or just a bit further towards the southwest and enter the primordial Okefenokee swamplands in Fargo, Georgia.

The big problem for the current AR Challenge is to choose just one area of our state. Should it be hiking in the mountains? Should it be meandering through the savannah of Savannah? Or perhaps enjoying the Atlantic coast? I guess for sheer excitement I must choose the Okefenokee.

Georgia State Parks offer cabins and campgrounds throughout the state. We always rent a cabin on the shores of the Okefenokee when we go there. There are nine cottages and 64 campsites nestled into the 80 acres in the wonderful Stephen C. Foster State Park where we stay.

Starting with our first visit in 1971, through the many times over rhe years and most recently in 2012, I can say nothing has changed. NOTHING. I guess swamp is swamp. The only “development” to see is the barely visible, deteriorated remnant of housing remaining on islands deep inside the swamp, left over from the logging camps of the early 1900's

Enough said, let's go visual! Please enjoy entering the swamplands without any fear of mosquitoes finding you!  After you “leave” the swamp and come back to City Living in Atlanta, the foothills of the Appalachians.  Atlanta Homes ODAT Realty is available for your home search whenever you are ready!

Have a happy day -

Lynn

I lived in Georgia when I was in the Army back in the late 60's.  It is a great state, and have had the fortune to visit on several occassions.
