Sunday, November 3rd from 12-5pm at Pine Island Park, 300 South Pine Island Road, in Plantation

The city of Plantation's first annual BBQ was held in 1956, to raise money to buy Plantation's first piece fire fighting equipment, a 500 gallon pumper. You can often see this unit in Plantation's Holiday and 4th of July Parades.  It almost seems so hard to believe that in the 1950s the population of city of Plantation, FL was roughly 500 people! Plantation has roughly 85,000 residents today.

I hope you can come out to enjoy this family friendly time honored Plantation, FL tradition this weekend. As you enjoy your BBQ made with Former Mayor Frank Veltri’s “Secret Sauce" please take a moment and think about how much Plantation, FL has grown into this great community that so many of us love to call home. In 1956 at the first annual Plantation Volunteer Fire Association BBQ the department was form with 21 volunteers, today the city of Plantation has the largest volunteer fire department in the state of FL!

The Plantation Volunteer Fire Association BBQ menu features ribs, chicken, beans, and cole slaw.  There are a wide variety of beverages available for additional purchase and a special kid’s hot dog meal. Every year letters are mailed to every known resident in the city of Plantation offering advance purchase of tickets at $10.00 for adults and $6.00 for children.

Tickets may also be purchased by calling Plantation Fire Administration at 954-797-2150, or on Sunday, at the gate $12.00 for adults and $7.00 for children.  The barbecue is held every year, rain or shine.  “Take-away” plates are also available.
