Your Wheels You Drive Speak About You

Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty 0575737

One man sat at a stop light. The woman in front of him was going through papers on the seat of her car, and when the light changed to green she didn't go. A green light is not a suggestion, you know, it is more of a commandment. But she didn't notice.

When the light turned red again, she still had not moved. The man in the car behind her now started screaming epithets and beating on his steering wheel.

A policeman tapped on his windshield. "You can't arrest me for hollering in my car," the man said. The cop asked for his license and registration, returned to his car, talked on the radio for a while and finally handed the papers back. The driver protested, "I knew you couldn't cite me for yelling in my own car!"

The officer replied, "I didn't want to cite you for shouting in your car. But I was behind you at the light and saw you screaming and beating your steering wheel. I said to myself, 'That guy is out of control. He's going to hurt someone.' Then I noticed your 'Love Is a Choice' and 'Give Peace a Chance' bumper stickers and I was sure you stole the car."

SAME THING would apply if you do a REALTOR wrap sign on your vehicle or door or rear window simpler signs or have a I AM A REALTOR custom license plate.

When you are "acting funny" with your driving or behavior with JOE OR SUSIE REALTOR plastered bumper to bumper on your vehicle PEOPLE WILL NOTICE. So be careful.

This is definitely something to think about before you wrap your entire car, not after.

That's a funny story. A reminder that we're always being watched - probably why I don't always wear my pins and such.

How many mistakes can you make driving down the road, in your unmarked car, that will never effect your public image? Now cut just one person off or do something ill advised in your wrapped car. As you can tell, I'm not a big fan of wrapped vehicles...

That is why I would never put sign on my car.  Actually, I don't have a problem with road rage.  I may get upset with driver who is not paying attention so I simply honk.  That wakes them up.

I remember the days when it was in fashion to have your name splattered all over your car. Magnets, etc. shouuting your name & profession.  I drive like maniac so I just go incognito. ;-)

This is very true, Gary. A friend of my son took a picture of my car as he drove behind me yesterday and sent it to my son (why he was taking picutres while driving??) and just said, 'driving behind Holly.' While my car is not wrapped, it has Realtor plates. He thought it was funny, I though it was a good reminder that my car is recognizable and people notice!

Probably would not happen at a light with real estate agents. They are concientious and would not offend a possible client:)

Hi Gary, I have seen a lot of crazy behavior by drivers but I can't ever recall one of them having a REALTOR sign on their car. I would even go as far to suggest that agents probably drive better and far safer than most others.

Thanks for everyone's great commenting on the vehicle being and expression of you if you deck it out. It seems caution is the word if you go down this path. The worst would be a spouse or a youngster of driving age taking the car out, doing something, and the REALTOR gets the effect.

While I try to drive courteously and conscientiously at all times, sometimes we accidentally make mistakes.  That is part of why I don't advertise on my car.  Also, I personally don't like being too flashy or a show off with my car screaming "Look at me!  I am a Realtor.  Look at me!"  I prefer a more demure handling of my marketing personally.

We have a Realtor in our area who drives a huge Hummer with his branding on it.  I have spoken to several prospective buyers and sellers who feel offended by it.  It is too 'in your face' and boasts of bragging.

Hi Gary,

Before trading in my old Jeep last week,  I asked myself just that question.  What is my the car that I drive saying about me?
