We just listed a beautiful home in a popular neighborhood in Gilbert, Arizona. We hired a professional photographer so that the listing photos would be perfect. The photographer shooed us out of the home so he could take his pictures without distraction.
The photos turned out beautifully--with one glaring exception. The sellers had left a pumpkin on the breakfast table as part of their fall decorations. We never even noticed it until we saw it in the photos!
You may be thinking, "No problem. It's just a pumpkin." Well, if the home sells in the next week or two, I agree! However, how attractive will that pumpkin be as we move into Christmas and maybe even New Years?
Nothing, I repeat, nothing, says this home has been on the market too long more than holiday decorations long after the holiday is over. Have you viewed listings in April that have Christmas decorations in the pictures? It's a huge turn-off to both agents and buyers.
So, listers beware! Strip the home of holiday decorations before you take your listing photos. Now if only I remember to follow my own advice!
