What Really Happens When You Give Someone Your Business Card

Now, don't take this the wrong way. There are a lot of meaningful connections made through networking. It's a necessity if you want to grow your business.

But we also make quite a few connections that, let's be honest, will probably never result in anything.

This was just too funny not to share. Sean Young posted this on his Facebook page.

I love networking and I can't tell you how many times I have wanted to say something along these lines. Funny!

Suzanne it's full of sarcasm like me. I liked the little video. Once I knew a guy I worked with years ago in a different life time who really was a goof ball and everyone rolled their eyes when he was around. A vendor came into the office and he forced his business card on him. I went out to lunch with another co-worker shortly afterwards and we found that business card on the ground. It wasn't just thrown on the ground, it was ripped in two. The person had to put that extra effort into ripping it in two before throwing it on the ground.

The video actually has many truths in it. The message on the video is why I handle business cards the way I do. I have one of my missions statements on the back of my card and when I give it out, I ask the person to read the back of it, which they do, after they read it, they always flip the card over and actually read the front. There is a lot of valuable real estate on the back, so the message is very important.

It's so tempting Kathy!

Noah-People like that work so hard to make an impression. Too bad it's a bad one.

Got to make it even Sharon!

If you can show them value of what you do Joe, then they're more than likely to hang on to that card for future use. But the Director of First Impressions still has to prove his worth :)

Suzanne, This is very funny and very true. I am getting away from handing out cards and I text the contact because it seems to be working so much better.

Debbie it certainly works to keep the contact info, but it has to be a meaningful connection for them to even use it.
