In 2008 Mitch and Ann Romney bought a home in LaJolla California. The cost was a mere $12,000,000. Seems the Romney’s wanted a home where they could hear the ocean. Well they also wanted to tear down the existing home and rebuild on the property a new 11,000 square foot house. If you stop to think about t they needed room for their five married sons and 23 grandchildren to visit.
Most of the home was on the first floor and basement and did not have an adverse effect on the views of any of their neighbors. So, how did Romney take the vote in California? Seems a former neighbor appealed to the California Coastal Commissions to stop the Romney’s from building their dream home on the beach at LaJolla. Well on October 11th the Romney’s won on a vote of 7 to 4 to allow them to build the house and they also own their part of the beach as well.
Wonder what the property taxes in California are for a house like this?
