Trunk or Treat in Henry County GA
The countdown has begun and families are gearing up for the fun. Neighbor children are already out in their front yards giving passersby a sneak peak of the costume parade we’ll be witnessing later in the evening.
It’s Healthy Halloween!
Henry County GA Moms and Dads are loading up the trunk with healthy goodies. All that’s left is to pile everyone into the car and head over to Piedmont Henry for the the Trunk or Treat party being held tonight in the Foundation Education Center parking lot at Piedmont Henry Hospital from 7:30 to 8:30 pm.

Now as you might expect, a Halloween event sponsored by a healthcare provider comes with some thoughtful and healthful suggestions for parents and children alike. The hospital’s suggestions intend to fight a growing obesity and diabetes problem but teaching families to limit the amount of sugar they consume. Participants are encouraged to bring healthy snacks to share. Other suggestions include:
- Eat first, treat later. Making sure that everyone has had dinner before the festivities is one way to keep from overeating the treats.
- Swap out the sugar. Replace sugar-intensive treats with healthier alternatives like popcorn, pretzels, trail mix, and health bars which do not elevate blood sugar levels and cause cavities like sugar-laden candies might.
- Love chocolate? Then, choose smaller portions and dark chocolate, which contains antioxidants that are good for the body. The trick is not to over-indulge.
- Walk it off. Being active for 30 minutes a day is recommended for most people. So a good way to burn off some of those extra Trunk or Treat calories might be to do an extra 30 minutes of walking this Halloween….as in, “one more time around the parking lot!”
