It's that time of year again...to "Fall Back," turn the clock "back" and get our hour back!

I just love this time of year. The colors, light and leaves are on fire, in their last hoorah before winter arrives. Also, we get that hour back that we lost when we "sprang forward" for daylight savings in the Spring. I just miss that hour of sleep ALL year!
Before you go to bed this Saturday night, Nov 2nd, turn those clocks back by an hour. Remember that we "Spring forward" an hour each Spring and "Fall Back" at this time of year. But, times change and we're a month off for both spring and fall time change, as of 2005 (read more below).
You can read below about a so-called energy savings measure that extended the months we spring or fall in and out of daylight savings, below! Actually, it's really a 2am time change for weekend night owls, but unless you are up that late...it's best to do it at bedtime the night before!
Also, it's a great time to answer the National Fire Prevention folks call to CHANGE YOUR FIRE DETECTOR BATTERIES, too. Who doesn't get annoyed by chirping batteries.
Also, we respond to a lot of home and business fires that are tragic, so be SURE to put a detector outside each bedroom and on all floors in your property!
My husband's fav country station online sent out this reminder, too. So, our household has them to thank because 1) I listen to rock and jazz; and, 2) We forgot in was a November time change, AGAIN. Hope it helps and enjoy that extra hour to sleep tomorrow and through winter!
The Energy Policy Act of 2005 extended the daylight savings time window from Spring to Fall by a month. Instead of Springing forward in April, today it's in late March -- around my birthday...yawn! Getting up in the dark just bites, especially having turned big 5-0 this spring!
In the Fall, we don't turn back the clock in October, but it's now early November, depending on the year. Either way, there are arguments about this bill, passed by then President George Bush, on whether energy savings were achieved by longer hours.
