When To Let Go Of Your Dream House

"Who is the lucky owner?"

"Wow, your house is just perfect!"

"This is such a paradise, you are very lucky, indeed!"

"Can we schedule our next party in your house?"

"This is just a perfect location and the neighborhood is awesome!"

Praises and admiration of your dream house is just endless.  You smile because you happen to be the proud owner of that dream house.  You and your husband spent most of your time with home improvements every now and then.  This house is really perfect for you, your husband and your two kids. And you know in your heart that this is gonna be a house that you will retire for the rest of your life.

Thirty years after, your children now grown up with a family of their own had moved out years ago.  You and your husband were left to dwell in that dream house you called a home like forever.  You enjoy every bit of your time spending in the house, doing all the household chores that you and your husband enjoys doing. Yes, you and your husband spent most of your time cleaning, mowing the front yard, the large backyard and the driveway.  The days just dragged on like that. There wasn't a day passed by that you started thinking that there is got to be something else more enjoyable than spending most of your time cleaning and maintaining your dream house.  The feeling is no longer the same.  You dream of something else. You want to sore and see other places like the way you used to when you and your husband didn't own this huge dream house yet.  You used to just fly in a different country, enjoying the freedom of being single and in love. Realizing that the house you called home had taken most of you and your husband's time, you then started to think of other things:

  • You've been paying a large amount for the mortgage of that huge dream house.
  • The upkeep of the dream house is just too much for both of you to bear.
  • You have other dreams that you wanted to accomplish than just spending most of your time with house improvements and maintenance.
  • You wanted to retire in a place not as huge as the dream house that you own.
  • This isn't really the way you wanted it to be when you first acquired the dream house.

You thought of a perfect solution:  Sell the dream house

  • You no longer have to pay the mortgage.
  • You and your husband can enjoy other things that you love doing.
  • By selling the dream house, another young family will be happy.
  • You can take a vacation, enjoy other places, enjoy each others company and have the best time of your life.
  • No more cleaning, mowing, raking leaves and other house maintenance.

A year after the perfect decision was made, you are now enjoying the new found home.  Both of you and your husband were able to avail of the early retirement plan.  And the amount of money that you received from the sale of that huge dream house, you are now running your own business.

Isn't life perfect?  Yes, change has its advantage.  One thing that you should not stop doing and that is to go for your dream and when you get that don't just stop there. Just because you have the dream house doesn't mean you can't find another.  Do everything necessary that will make your life fulfilling and meaningful.  Go for your dream!
