Self-employment requires guts and lots of it. You no longer count on a paycheck that comes in religiously. But if you think about carefully, everyone is self-employed. Including the W-2 employees. Try missing work often. Try having to leave work early because you are sick or your children are sick. Try not working when you are on the job. You would be fired so quickly. Nothing is a sure-thing, including the job you go to every day.
I became self-employed in December 2006. It required alot of guidance, especially the Holy Spirit. It required alot of FAITH that everything will be okay.
I would be first to admit that at first, I probably have 60% faith. I had more faith to be self-employed than I was as an employee. As I do this longer and longer, my business grew and grew and 60% slowly became 80-85%. I was still concerned where the next business would come from.
But being in this business full time for 7 years, now I can say the business will come. Sure, I wouldnt know where it might come from... be it my online marketing efforts, my blogs, my videos or from my sphere and referrals thereof. But one thing I know for sure, it WILL COME.
Yet, I'm still human. My faith has grown to 99.9% now. Once a while I sit at 99% and still require the 1% FAITH to fully emmerse myself to a complete faith. When they say, Walk by Faith and Not by Sight. Gosh, it is true indeed.
When things are going so tremendously well, I could be on 110%. It's not hard to feel pumped and awesome. But it's the days that you are seeking your 1% FAITH, that you can only completely rely on the one source, the one provider and the one orchestrator of your business.
It's okay to desire that 1% FAITH.
Scripture of the Week:
Consider it pure joy, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.
